VP, Closed Loop Oceans
Grant Collins is the Vice President, Closed Loop Oceans at Closed Loop Partners. He is responsible for developing and implementing its strategy for investing in waste management and recycling projects in developing markets that reduce marine debris. With a two-decade career in international finance and law, he brings a wealth of experience in structuring complex transactions designed to effect tangible development impact.
Prior to joining Closed Loop Partners, Grant founded and managed Charlotte Square Consulting, a multidisciplinary advisory firm focused on the development of innovative investment funds and financial products with ethical or socially responsible objectives. In that role, he assisted clients in the development of water cost indices designed to accelerate investment in water infrastructure, promoted the creation of an impact investment fund for women-owned SMEs in emerging markets, and advised on financial sector expansion in transition economies. He also counseled the Dubai Multi Commodities Center, a strategic initiative of the Government of Dubai, on establishing a UAE Central Bank-licensed asset management company and in launching a US$200 million investment platform that included the first exchange-traded fund to be listed in the Middle East.
Before establishing Charlotte Square, Grant was an integral member of Dechert’s award winning Islamic finance practice in London, UK, having previously served in a variety of roles at the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Earlier in his career, at HSBC Investment Bank, he sourced, structured and syndicated equity and equity-linked debt issuance for corporate and government clients, particularly in emerging markets. He also led its capital markets efforts in Indonesia conceiving and implementing a series of innovative transactions, including the inaugural Introduction to the Jakarta Stock Exchange.
The holder of degrees in law from the University of Bristol and Georgetown University Law Center, he is admitted as a solicitor in England and as an attorney in New York. He is based principally in Washington, DC where he lives with his wife and daughter.
