The Center for the Circular Economy’s Circular Innovation Accelerator brings together industry experts, academic researchers, and entrepreneurs who are solving for today’s most pressing challenges in design and reuse. Through mentorship, curated events and network-building we foster partnerships across the supply chain in order to activate circular economy solutions.

NextGen Cup Accelerator

The Center for the Circular Economy seeks proposals for a partner to design and manage the inaugural cohort of the Center’s Circular Business Accelerator.  This first cohort is comprised of early- and growth-stage companies who are innovating food packaging solutions in response to the NextGen Cup Challenge, launched this year by an industry consortium led by Starbucks and McDonald’s and managed by the Center for the Circular Economy in partnership with Closed Loop Partners. Each year, an estimated 600 billion paper and plastic cups are distributed worldwide. The consortium will develop recyclable and compostable cup solutions as the first step in the development of a global end-to-end solution that will allow cups around the world to be diverted from landfills and composted or given a second life.

This inaugural cohort of the Center’s accelerator program will be a virtual, six-month engagement where startups will gain access to mentorship, industry expertise in waste recovery, and customized assistance in identified areas of business and technical growth.

The Circular Innovation Accelerator incubates companies that become investment opportunities for Closed Loop Partners’ investment funds as well CLP’s investment partners across private equity, venture capital, family offices and foundations.
