
Daniel Phan
Daniel is a Managing Director and Co-Head of Closed Loop Partners’ Leadership Group, the firm’s buyout private equity strategy, where he also serves on the Investment Committee. He leads the investment team in all aspects of the deal process, including deal origination, execution, due diligence, value creation, portfolio management and realizations, in addition to driving the growth and strategy of the firm’s private equity business.
Daniel brings 15 years of buy-and-build, middle market private equity experience. With over 30 deals completed thus far in his career, Daniel has proven his ability to successfully partner with business owners to scale platform businesses across the industrials landscape, including specialty manufacturing, chemicals and material sciences, distribution, medical and life sciences, and related sectors. Daniel draws from his broader private equity experience, including corporate development and operations, investment banking, and capital markets.
Prior to joining Closed Loop Partners in 2025, Daniel was a Managing Director at Aterian Investment Partners, a leading middle market private equity firm managing ~$2 billion of assets across industrial, services and infrastructure sectors globally, with a focus on North America. As one of the earliest investment team members near the firm’s inception, Daniel led the creation of several key platforms and investments across the built environment & facilities and infrastructure services.
Prior to Aterian, Daniel was an investment team member at Corporate Partners LLC, the private equity affiliate of Lazard Freres where he focused on growth and minority equity investments across the industrial and consumer sectors. Before that, he was an investment banker for Deutsche Bank in the Media Telecom group.
Daniel is a Board Advisory Partner at Actel Advisory, a leading management consulting firm, as well as a member of the Duke University Annual Fund board.
He holds a BA in Economics from Duke University, with a certificate in Markets and Management studies.
