Closed Loop Ventures is the venture capital fund within Closed Loop Partners, focusing on seed and pre-seed stage investments. The thesis of the fund is supply chain efficiency broadly defined, including materials innovation, transparency and traceability, end of life recovery and revalorization. We look for solutions that marry environmental stewardship with financial best practices and the opportunity to grow into category defining technologies.

Role

  • We are looking for a Winter Intern to join the existing Closed Loop Ventures Group as a part-time member of the Ventures team from January to April (exact dates open to discussion).
  • The role will be primarily responsible for design, update, and roll-out of a new impact measurement framework.
  • The intern will also have the opportunity to participate in deal flow review, ongoing diligence, and knowledge development related to core priority areas of Closed Loop Ventures’ investment theses on circularity.
  • Please note that the role will include 2 days / week in person work and so candidates should be in proximity to New York City to apply.

 

Qualifications

  • You have at least 2 years’ professional experience in a for profit or nonprofit setting
  • You have experience designing and implementing impact measurement systems that go beyond financial impact metrics to include waste, water, and direct / indirect carbon evaluation criteria
  • You have exposure to the existing sustainability reporting systems, including CDP, TCFD, GRI, and others

Role

As a member of the leadership team, Closed Loop Partners’ GC & CCO will oversee all legal and external matters including, but not limited to: litigation, investigations, contracts, compliance, mergers and acquisitions, fund formation,  as well as industry/business related matters for an innovation center, commercialization group and an asset management business. The General Counsel will also oversee company activities encompassing legislative, regulatory, administrative and policy matters. The General Counsel & CCO will be responsible for planning, executing, and managing regulatory audits and its related entities. This position partners with cross-functional groups in the implementation of process improvements that deliver value to CLP’s business and ensures effective internal controls.

  • Prepares, reviews and negotiates vendor contracts, requests for proposals, and other legal agreements
  • Anticipates and mitigates potential legal matters and conflicts within the organization and develops strategies to avoid litigation, identify and reduce potential areas of risk
  • Provides legal counsel to Management
  • Day to day management and optimization of external legal, compliance and regulatory relationships
  • Responsible for the selection and management of legal and compliance vendor relationships
  • Performs consulting and advisory services related to risk management, systems and controls and best practices for the Firm, as appropriate
  • Reviews and audits regulatory processes and procedures to ensure compliance with policies are maintained across all verticals
  • Ensures compliance with laws, regulations and standards across all of CLPs businesses
  • Evaluates internal systems and controls established to ensure compliance with policies, plans, procedures, laws, standards, and regulations that impact the company
  • Compliance subject matter expert, providing guidance and training to all team members, oversees monitoring for compliance violations
  • Evaluates other matters at the request of the CEO, CFO, or senior management, as appropriate

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience
  • Current legal licenses for the State of New York in good standing
  • In-depth knowledge of SEC regulations for alternative asset management
  • Knowledge of employment laws
  • Experience in fund structuring; global experience ideal
  • Experience with corporate contracts, including but not limited to consultants, MOUs, Partnership Agreements, NDAs, and other

Engineering Lead, Modular Anaerobic Digestion

Role

  • Be the first technical hire for a rapidly growing business unit at Closed Loop Partners
  • Be the on-the-ground technical lead for the rollout of pilot sites in the US for a modular, on-site anaerobic digestion technology
  • Provide drawings and design documents, commissioning plans and specifications, and site-specific integration recommendations (plumbing, electrical, structural) during the sales process and pilot phase of projects
  • Lead expansion and scaling of manufacturing and warehousing in the US for the modular anaerobic digestion system
  • Work cross-functionally with clients, suppliers, and third-party contractors
  • Provide technical support for pilot sites in NYC and Austin, TX areas (involving an estimated 5-10 site visits annually per site), working with contractors, plumbers, electricians, or other service providers where necessary
  • Support the sales and client support processes as the technical point person
  • Keep track of costs for manufacturing, logistics, and hired contractors with an aggressive eye towards capital efficiency
  • Liaise with product design team to learn about R&D advancements and product improvements, and plan together optimized deployment for systems
  • Attend site visits for potential pilot sites and provide technical input on site suitability

 

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of engineering experience
  • Degree in civil or mechanical engineering, or a closely related field
  • Proficiency in CAD
  • Working knowledge of MEP building systems, electrical systems, and structural/architectural systems, plus ability to communicate with professionals from these trades
  • Understanding of the architectural, engineering, and construction industries
  • Experience working with suppliers to drive product and manufacturing cost reductions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Program Manager Responsibilities Include:

    • Developing communications materials (e.g., key findings summaries, articles, reports) to share insights and analysis  
    • Presenting to external audiences 
  • Support senior leadership with stakeholder engagement related responsibilities  
  • Help develop high-quality presentation materials, including decks, proposals and marketing materials 
  • Help manage, maintain and optimize CRM systems

Analyst / Associate, Private Credit Funds

Role

We are seeking an Analyst / Associate to support the Portfolio Manager and senior investment team across the deal cycle – origination, due diligence, execution, and portfolio management – across all the credit funds. We are looking for a candidate who is interested in the areas of recycling, commodities and/or systems change. The key requirements include strong, demonstrated capabilities in accounting and financial analysis, an ability to work effectively as part of a small team, and an interest in the aims of social and environmental enterprise.

  • Support activities of the private credit funds’ active origination strategy to develop pipeline and identify new investment opportunities – targeted research, outreach, and CRM input.
  • Undertake initial screening of inquiries and assessment of loan applications.
  • Assist with commercial and financial due diligence, performing market research and financial analysis, including review of historic and prospective financial information.
  • Build and maintain financial models for pipeline and portfolio companies.
  • Contribute to the drafting of presentations and investment memos for review by the senior investment team before submission to Advisory Board and Investment Committee.
  • Undertake environmental performance assessments of existing and prospective borrowers/investments.
  • Assist in preparation of legal documentation and contracts required to complete investments.
  • Support all aspects of investment portfolio management – monitoring the environmental and financial performance of existing investments, reviewing management information, and compliance with covenants.

 

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in accounting, fundamental credit analysis, or with a middle market lender
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
