Prior to joining Closed Loop Partners, Derek spent four years at J.P. Morgan across several groups. Most recently, he was an Investment Banking Associate on the Diversified Industries (Industrials) team in New York, where he was responsible for evaluating and executing mergers & acquisitions, equity capital markets and debt capital markets transactions. During this time, he announced and executed more than $8B worth of mergers & acquisitions and debt capital market transactions, including several landmark deals in the industry. Prior to joining the Diversified Industries team, he was a member of J.P. Morgan’s Middle Market Financial Sponsors Group, where he was responsible for executing leveraged buyouts, mergers & acquisitions, carve-outs and recapitalizations for sponsor-owned portfolio companies. 

At Closed Loop Partners, Derek led Sage Sustainable Electronics’ bolt-on acquisitions of Relectro and Cascade Asset Management. He currently serves as a Board member of Sage Sustainable Electronics. In addition, he is a member of SERI’s ESG Technical Advisory Committee, assisting in the development of the SERI ESG Reporting Standard for Electronics. 

Derek holds a BBA in Finance from The College of William & Mary, where he graduated magna cum laude. 

Caroline supports strategy, project management, storytelling and stakeholder engagement across key areas including infrastructure, innovation, policy and consumer insights.  

Prior to joining Closed Loop Partners, Caroline spearheaded sustainable packaging strategy for a global consumer goods company. Her work was instrumental in their B Corp recertification, receiving recognition from B Lab as a leading best practice. 

Caroline holds a MENV in Sustainable Food Systems from the University of Colorado, Boulder and a BA in Communications from Loyola University Maryland. 

Prior to joining Closed Loop Partners, Theresa served as the Zero Waste Director for the City of Boston, where she led the implementation of the City’s residential zero waste programs, policies and services. Most notably, she launched curbside composting, textiles and mattress recycling programs. Before her time in Boston, she worked at the NYC Department of Sanitation as the Deputy Director of Partnerships, where she established strategic programming for the agency’s nonprofit arm. 

Theresa holds an MS in Environmental Policy and Science from Johns Hopkins University and a BS from SUNY New Paltz. 

Prior to joining Closed Loop Partners, Olivia worked at the intersection of sustainability, data and consumer insights at Accenture. She specialized in sustainable innovation and behavior, working across consumer goods, retail and healthcare industries. Olivia previously served as a Brand Partnerships Associate at Loop by TerraCycle, where she supported fast-moving consumer goods brands transition to durable packaging solutions for prefill systems. 

Olivia holds a BA in Environmental Studies from Brown University. 

Prior to joining Closed Loop Partners, Akshatha spent over three years as an investor at Moonrise Capital, where she invested in a mix of technology venture capital funds and late venture- and growth-stage companies. She started her career as a management consultant working with financial services clients in New York City on engagements related to revenue growth, product, pricing and marketing. 

She is the New York co-Chair of Women in Climate Investing & Finance (WICIF). 

Akshatha holds a BSE in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania and is a 2023 Clean Energy Leadership Institute Fellow.  

Prior to joining Closed Loop Partners, Renée worked as a Company Manager, an Administrative Manager and Executive Assistant for over 10 years. In that time, she worked for a variety of industries including manufacturing, accounting, sales, marketing, education, music and others. With a keen eye for detail and organization, she brings significant experience in calendar management and travel coordination, as well as expense reports, accounting and bookkeeping. She also has extensive experience with people management, customer service, general management, sales, social media support, organizing tasks and processes, contract preparation and more. 

Renee holds a degree in Science of Business Management from Post University and a degree in Early Childhood Education from Westchester Community College. 

Prior to joining Closed Loop Partners, Astha worked as Fund Administrator at SS&C Technologies for two years. Prior to that, she was at Reliant Fund Services in New York City. 

Astha holds an MS in Accounting from Baruch College. She is also a licensed CPA (Certified Public Accountant). 

Prior to joining Closed Loop Partners, she spent over two years in Lincoln International’s Private Funds Advisory practice in New York, working with private equity clients. She began her career on the municipal sales and trading desk at PNC. 

Liwen holds a BA in Economics and Computer Science from Boston College.
